I know starting a small business can be overwhelming. Where do you invest your time and energy? What will net you the most return on your investment? How can you do it all and avoid burnout? To prevent major anxiety, let’s stick to these five areas of your business you must get right.
When I first started my business in 2015, I felt like I was always struggling. This crap is so hard!
But it was sink or swim. I stayed up late, worked weekends, took ALL the courses in order to be so successful, and now I want to help people like you who might be struggling just like I did because I KNOW how tough it can be. I want you to not only be successful too but save you steps so you can enjoy your weekends.

So let’s jump on in! These five areas are some of the most crucial ones you’ll face in today’s business, so it’s important to get it right.
If you think Pinterest is just about pinning recipes, you’ve got it all wrong. (But did you see the Devilled Strawberries? Hello!) If you have a website, you need Pinterest. Like Google, it’s a search engine; only it uses visual pins to send you traffic instead of just words. Google is even pulling information from Pinterest, and you’ll often find pins in Google images.
Pinterest is no fluffy social media feed. It’s a hardcore traffic-driving speedway to your business. You need this.
If your Ideal Client is under 50 years old, you MUST be on Instagram. If you have a product to sell, you need to be on Instagram. If you want people to recognize your business, then you need to be on Instagram. It’s a visual social media platform where people 50 and below tend to hang out instead of Facebook.
It’s worth learning how to create branded graphics or take a fabulous picture to drive people to your Instagram account. This is a see or be seen type of social media platform. Like the hottest club, you wait hours in line for just a chance to get in. Ok, maybe not that hot, but it’s the place to be seen.
LinkedIn is social media for professionals, and it’s trying to gain a wider audience. More and more, they are rolling out functions to become a more relevant social platform. It’s a place for people to come together with the sole purpose of networking. Users expect to be approached and marketed to. So make sure you’re on there, with your page optimized.

Email Automation
If you’re in business, you need an email list. If you have a list, you need automation. This means an email sequence, template, tags, and more. You need to know what you are doing where your ESP (email service provider) is concerned. And honestly, what ESP’s provide what functions and at what cost.
Project Management Tools
If you’re a one-person show, you need tools to make your life easier. This is where project management tools come into play. There are many to choose from, and knowing what you need and how to run them so they can effectively be an asset is essential. Having a workflow to move your clients through your system smoothly is essential when working with a skeleton crew. You need life to be easier, not add another to-do item to your list.
So if you’re looking at these five areas of your business and thinking, great, but HOW do I get it right? How do I nail these things to bring in my Ideal Client and make them lifelong fans?
